A Peaceful Goodbye at Home
Saying goodbye to your beloved pet is one of the hardest decisions you’ll ever make. It is also one of the most loving.
At home, where your pet feels safest, we can create space for a peaceful transition that honours your pet and the bond you share.
The Journey of a Peaceful Goodbye
Arriving and settling in
When I arrive to your home, we take time to settle into the space that feels right for your pet. I’ll move at their pace, allowing them to become comfortable and relaxed before we begin. You are welcome to have family, close friends, or other pets present and I encourage you to surround yourself with as much support as feels right.
Gentle sedation
Your pet receives gentle medication allowing them to relax completely in their home. They'll experience no anxiety while drifting peacefully to sleep surrounded by familiar comforts and your loving presence.
Placement of an intravenous catheter
Once they are sleeping, an intravenous catheter is placed, to allow for the final medication. If your pet has a condition that makes this impractical, I’ll adjust the plan to what is safest and most comfortable for them.
The final medication
The final medication (an anaesthetic medicine) is gently administered when you are ready. After your pet has passed I will quietly step away to give you some private time. I will then return to create a clay paw print keepsake and prepare a small hair clipping in a glass vial. If you have chosen cremation, I will arrange for the crematorium to meet us at the end of our appointment.
Aftercare
A range of aftercare options are available, including home burial or cremation.
I can guide you through these choices and help arrange whatever feels most aligned for your family.
